             abstract = "In the context of environmental planning, land management and 
                         natural resources, the use of computer technology has been 
                         important for researchers, businesses and public managers. The aim 
                         of this study was to define priority areas for analyze the 
                         adequacy of land use through multi-criteria analysis in GIS. In 
                         many applications of GIS in the field of environmental analysis, 
                         is often involved multiple criteria to meet one or more goals. 
                         This is called Multicriteria Evaluation (MCE).The map of priority 
                         areas for adequacy of use of land in the sub-basin of Rio Pardo, 
                         SP, was generated through the integrated analysis of available 
                         data on the study area. The priority map identified no areas able 
                         or unable, but represented an ability surface where all pixels 
                         have a score from 0 (less able) to 255 (more able) resulting from 
                         the application of criteria and a weighted analysis. The 
                         Multicriteria Evaluation in GIS, is suitable for mapping of 
                         priority areas and adequacy of land use in watersheds. The Method 
                         of Weighted Linear Combination is flexible, easy to be implemented 
                         by determining the robustness of the solution to the process of 
                         decision making. The methodology enabled the integration of 
                         aspects related to the legislation with landscape features on the 
                         adequacy of land use.",
